There has not been much for Everton fans to shout about in recent weeks.

The 2025/26 campaign ended with seven consecutive games without a win, and there has since been frustration on the transfer front as Everton see two bids rejected for Hayden Hackney – the most recent of which was worth £15m.

However, there has now been a piece of news which has left the likes of Jarrad Branthwaite and Michael Keane delighted as Vitalii Mykolenko signs a new contract at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

If you were Angus Kinnear who would you be going all out for this summer? 💰

How the Everton squad have reacted as Vitalii Mykolenko pens new deal

Some Everton fans on social media are not too happy about this news, considering the Ukraine international failed to record more than one assist in 33 Premier League appearances last season and is widely considered to be quite an average full-back in the modern era.

Nevertheless, Mykolenko – who Galatasaray wanted – appears to be a very popular man within Finch Farm.

Keane kickstarted the reactions by commenting “love it Mykooo” in response to the Ukrainian’s Instagram post, before Harrison Armstrong also celebrated by writing “Mickyyyyy” along with a blue heart emoji.

Former Toffee Dominic Calvert-Lewin also responded, posting: “Well deserved my friend.”

Beto replied too, writing “Vladdd” – also with a blue heart emoji – while Branthwaite commented “love it you” after hearing the news about his fellow defender.

Furthermore, another former Everton player replied in Alex Iwobi, who called Mykolenko a “legend” after he penned a new deal running until June 2029.

Last but not least, Jake O’Brien reacted as well, writing: “Yes Mike!”

Clearly, the Everton No.16 is a very popular man inside the dressing room, and also with some former teammates.

Hopefully, with time still on his side at the age of 27, Mykolenko can start to show signs of improvement next season and become more of an attacking threat.
