The new Nicolas Jackson transfer development that may disappoint Everton

Everton have learned of a potentially disappointing update involving striker target Nicolas Jackson.

The Toffees are set to go after a new number nine this summer, following criticism of both Beto and Thierno Barry in 2025/26.

The pair ended up scoring 17 Premier League goals between them which wasn’t too bad. But the consensus is that Everton need more of a ruthless number nine to take them to the next level.

How would you feel about Hayden Hackney becoming Everton’s first signing? 🤩

Tammy Abraham has again been linked with a move to Everton in recent days.

And Nicolas Jackson has also been on Everton’s radar in recent times.

But it appears that Everton may now have real difficulty luring Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gana Gueye’s international teammate.

TEAMtalk are reporting that Jackson is now set to try and fight for his place at Chelsea.

The 24-year-old has just finished up a loan spell with Bayern Munich, and done relatively well considering he had to play second fiddle to Harry Kane all season.

He scored eight goals and made two assists in 23 appearances.

But Bayern decided not to trigger their option to buy the player, so Jackson’s future has been up in the air.

But TEAMtalk say Jackson is now ready to stay at Chelsea and fight for his place under new manager Xabi Alonso.

The publication say if the Spaniard signals there is ‘a genuine opportunity’ available, Jackson is ready to stay and fight, rather than seek an immediate exit.

With Liam Delap set to leave Chelsea this summer, that could create more opportunity for Jackson.

Ironically, Delap is also a target for Everton.

But Alonso has also been tipped to go after a world-class new striker, so it remains to be seen if Jackson will indeed stick around at Stamford Bridge.

If he did ultimately decide to move on though, Everton would not find a cheap deal here.

It was recently reported that Chelsea still see Jackson as a player worth up to £60 million, which could prove prohibitive for not just Everton, but other clubs too.
