Tottenham keen to pounce on Everton’s Hayden Hackney difficulties

Everton have been knocked back in talks over Hackney with Middlesbrough holding strong in their valuation of the player.

A report from Sportsboom has now suggested that Tottenham have made contact with Hackney in a bid to hijack his possible move to Merseyside.

It is claimed that Spurs are making their attempt to gazump Everton in negotiations and convince the 23-year-old to make the move to north London.

It must also be noted that Crystal Palace are preparing their bid for Hackney after seeing Everton struggle.

The Eagles are expected to lodge an offer in the region of £20m for Hackney.

For Everton, it is becoming pretty clear that there will be no cut-price deal on offer for Hackney this summer.

Although the midfielder may only have one year remaining on his contract on Teesside, Boro are not willing to let him go for anything less than their valuation.

It has even been suggested that Middlesbrough are open to keeping Hackney and allowing his contract to wind down over the coming year.

Everton need to get their act together if they are going to secure Hackney’s signature this summer.
