Everton are a club in desperate need of any financial boost they can possibly get, so sales, even this late in the window, can prove hugely beneficial.
However, ideally for Kevin Thelwell to improve Sean Dyche‘s squad further, he will want to tie up any sales before deadline day rolls around, to give them as much time as possible to find an ample replacement.
Fortunately, with one particular asset, they seem to be on the cusp of reaching an agreement that will secure his exit.
And, due to his lack of stature within the first-team, he will not need replacing, potentially leaving the door open for a luxury purchase that can get Evertonians excited despite their poor start to the Premier League season.
Neal Maupay reaches agreement to leave Everton
The latest on this particular transfer move comes via French outlet Foot Mercato, who seek to provide an update on the future of Neal Maupay.
A polarising figure on Merseyside and well beyond, the 28-year-old has never really fit in at Goodison Park since his £15m move, with his alienation only further cemented after the 2023 appointment of Dyche.

He never stood a chance of getting a game, and now all reports are suggesting that this will be his last summer at Everton.
Especially after Neal Maupay argued with Everton supporters after their loss at Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.
He has burned most bridges with the fanbase, and is now set to leave shrouded in animosity.
The report reads: ‘Lately, the Phocaeans [Marseille] had checked the name of the Frenchman from Everton, Neal Maupay (28).
‘However, signing the former OGC Nice player is complicated for the moment, even if the player, who already has an agreement with OM, remains the priority of the Marseille board.
‘In addition to an inability to strike a deal with the Toffees, Marseille must also manage Brentford’s competition.’
Everton need to stop haggling on the asking price
Realistically, whatever stumbling blocks Everton are faltering on will be inconsequential in what will be a very minor deal in the grand scheme of things.
Just getting him out the door will prove profitable enough, removing his £50k-a-week deal from the wage bill, and hopefully gathering a small sum for his exit too.

It is a deal that will benefit all parties, with the Toffees getting to move on from his painful tenure, and the striker finally removing himself from an environment in which he never belonged.
Thelwell needs to make sure this sale happens, and fast. Only then can they potentially reinvest before deadline day.
