Abdoulaye Doucoure is back in training now ahead of this weekend’s tie against Aston Villa in what is a massive boost for Sean Dyche.
Everton could be handed a massive boost for this weekend’s clash against Aston Villa. Sean Dyche‘s side haven’t won a game in four Premier League outings but he’s set to get arguably his most impactful player back.
Abdoulaye Doucoure has been irreplaceable for Dyche lately, however, he has missed a string of games lately through injury. Currently standing alone as Everton’s top scorer, Doucoure – who joined the Toffees in 2020 for a £20m fee – has found the net six times in the Premier League.
His absence has been profound and Everton have lost every league game since his last appearance in a 2-0 win against Burnley.
Now as he gears up for a return, he’s been labelled as a huge boost for Dyche prior to the game against Aston Villa.

Abdoulaye Doucoure a massive return for Everton
Doucoure has been so good this season and was labelled as a ‘machine‘ earlier in the campaign for his disruptive pressing from attacking midfield.
Now ahead of his return, Sky Sports’ Ben Ransom has dropped his verdict on just how huge the return of Doucoure will be for Everton.
“We will have to wait to see if he is fit enough to start but it is a huge boost. He is their leading goalscorer this season, with six goals. To get him back and fit will be like a new signing this weekend.”
Without Doucoure, Everton have been a shell of themselves which just further points to how incredibly important he is for this team. But with Doucoure possibly back, the mind casts to those still missing.
Everton’s current injury status
As Doucoure potentially returns to the starting line-up this weekend, we are reminded that both Ashley Young and Dele Alli remain out injured.
Young is believed to be returning in January and should only be a couple of weeks at most off his return.
Meanwhile, Dele has an unknown return date as he looks to build his fitness up as he’s missed the entire season to date.
Everton are close to having a fully fit squad however based on how unfortunate the club have been this campaign, we wouldn’t hold our breath.
