Abdoulaye Doucoure has just been made Everton’s new highest earner.
According to the Mirror, the midfielder’s new contract means he is now raking in more than Jordan Pickford.
Abdoulaye Doucoure‘s career at Everton has made a huge U-turn this year, having been frozen out of the squad by Frank Lampard before his sacking.
The midfielder hadn’t started a Premier League game since August when Sean Dyche arrived, having only played around 100 minutes of football since then.
With Doucoure’s contract set to expire in the following summer, he looked set to be on his way out until Dyche brought him back into the fold.
Doucoure became a key player as they survived relegation, scoring five goals and signing a new one-year deal.
The Mali international has continued to improve under Dyche this season, starting every game so far and already netting three goals.

The 30-year-old’s wonderful form has been rewarded with a new one-year contract and sees him earn a decent pay rise as he overtakes Jordan Pickford to become the new highest-paid player at Goodison Park.
Doucoure was previously thought to be earning £120,000-per-week – slightly less than Pickford’s £125,000-per-week contract.
Has Abdoulaye Doucoure earned his fresh terms?
Abdoulaye Doucoure’s new wages come as quite a surprise considering his age and the importance of Jordan Pickford.
However, the midfielder has definitely been one of Everton’s most important players and certainly earns a raise on what he was already earning if he is consistently producing these type of performances.
This will surely be the final new contract for Doucoure though, with the former Watford man now lined up to leave Merseyside in just less than two years time.
