£53k-a-week Everton player set to be out until March with injury in blow to Sean Dyche

Everton have been ravaged by injury this season, having seen star players struck down at key moments throughout the past eight months.

And yet, despite those hardships, Sean Dyche has still directed his side towards safety, with their ten-point deduction the only reason for their recent slump into the relegation zone.

A lack of options off the bench, matched with a first-team devoid of their most important men, has naturally also contributed.

Well, it seems the former is only set to dwindle further, with reports of a fresh injury to Arnaut Danjuma.

How long is Arnaut Danjuma injured for?

Although far from the first name on Dyche’s team sheet, the Dutchman has enjoyed some profitable cameos this campaign, despite having just a sole Premier League goal to his name thus far.

He is direct, fast and focused on always threatening the goal, making him a useful asset off the bench when chasing the game, but a bit of a liability from the start.

This would explain why he has just five league starts under his belt, instead making nine appearances from the bench.

However, he is now set to be unavailable for the next few fixtures, with the Liverpool ECHO relaying Dyche’s comments whilst also adding their own intelligence within the report.

They write: ‘Arnaut Danjuma could be out for the rest of the month with an ankle injury suffered at Fulham.’

A blow eased for Everton

Whilst another injury marks a fresh hammer blow for Everton, their fears are eased by the triumphant imminent return of two other first-team starters.

After all, Danjuma’s absence is set to impact Dyche’s options from the bench, but as aforementioned the £53k-a-week trickster has hardly been their most impactful player.

Someone who has is Abdoulaye Doucoure, and his return to action comes at the perfect time, with three games on the horizon which the Toffees simply must come away from with points.

After all, they remain just one win away from making a huge stride out of the bottom three, with Crystal Palace their next match at Goodison Park.

The hope is that their Mali international can be deemed fit enough to feature heavily next Monday, especially given the 31-year-old already has six league goals this season, the most of any Everton player.

His return is further buoyed by Amadou Onana’s first few minutes back on the pitch on Saturday too, who also made an injury comeback and should be fully fit for their next clash.

So, whilst Danjuma’s ailment marks a fresh blow set to plague the entire month, it is a frustration eased by this double return.
