Everton could be set to suffer a grand setback in their ongoing takeover, much to the frustration of 777 Partners.

The Miami-based firm, who have now made numerous appearances at Goodison Park in an effort to reaffirm their interest in purchasing the club, have been left frustrated by a lack of conclusion to this never-ending saga.

The Premier League have taken all the time needed to come to a proper conclusion about their reliability as owners, especially given they also had to comb through a messy PSR process too.

Well, with the latter now sorted for at least a few months, you would think that 777 Partners were next on the agenda.

But, a fresh spanner has been thrown in the works…

What’s the latest on 777 Partners

With 777 Partners the recipients of numerous detractors, and the scrutiny upon them only increasing, this latest report is certain to only add to their issues.

After all, having agreed to a deal to buy the club in September, the Premier League are yet to grant them access all these months since.

In an article for the Financial Times, they write a rather damning opening paragraph.

It reads: ‘A Bermudian financial structure used by the Miami-based bidder for Everton Football Club to funnel money invested for widows and orphans into the sport has begun to unravel.’

Should their finances dry up, as the dissolution of another of their fiscal sources (A-Cap) did, there will surely be no way that they can be allowed to stride into Merseyside and assume the ultimate position of power at Everton.

Everton and Farhad Moshiri need to move on

After nearly six months of waiting, surely the Premier League, and Farhad Moshiri, can see that 777 Partners are unfit for purpose.

By allowing them to take over at Everton despite their patchy financial record and shady history with their various clubs, they are effectively lowering the bar for future owners seeking to invest in sides in this division.

They are clearly not coming from a position of strength, which should worry fans, and therefore would likely be unequipped to deal with the plethora of issues plaguing the Toffees.

What this club needs is a strong figure willing to bankroll their debt and allow the club to destabilise. Not an outfit only set to add to the uncertainty.

If Moshiri is desperate for his money and an escape from Goodison Park, and the Premier League are looking for a stronger and safer option, then surely moving on from 777 Partners marks the best option now.
