Everton are still hot in their pursuit of Ernest Nuamah, as they seek to tie up another deal from Lyon.

Having already snagged Jake O’Brien from the French outfit, it seems that, whether he has completed his takeover or not, John Textor is still seeking to help the Toffees out.

That has materialised in another move too, with Everton completing a deal for Orel Mangala today as well.

And yet, despite all this ridiculous upheaval between the two sides, they are far from finished, with Alan Myers providing an update on what he’s been hearing about their efforts to snag Nuamah from their clutches too.

Given Lyon have already signed a replacement for Nuamah amidst Everton’s interest, the chances of his departure today, on deadline day, seem high.

The Ghanaian winger is a highly sought-after talent, and thus Kevin Thelwell will face stiff competition to tempt him to Goodison Park.

Myers, when asked about the Toffees’ chances of completing a deal, remained somewhat on the fence, but did provide a nugget of insight regarding what he’s being told about the negotiations.

He would relay this information to X, writing: ‘It’s still possible but I’m told, and I have no idea if true, that the player may not want to leave but let’s see.’

What can Everton fans expect from Ernest Nuamah?

Compared to Kaoru Mitoma, Simon Adingra and Marcus Rashford on FBref, already a rough picture starts to emerge for fans who regularly watch the Premier League.

In fact, Evertonians in particular will have fresh horrors of the former duo, who both scored in Brighton and Hove Albion’s opening-day demolition of the Toffees at Goodison Park.

Whilst Nuamah seems to not quite have that cutting edge and killer instinct just yet, the fact that he boasts pace, trickery and a one-track mindset should be enough to get fans excited about his potential arrival.

He is unlike anything Sean Dyche currently has at his disposal, and made a fine transition into top-level football last season with three goals and two assists in Ligue 1.

However, it’s arguably what his underlying numbers say that speaks volumes about this creative yet hard-working starlet.

During the 23/24 campaign, in which Lyon finished sixth, Nuamah managed one key pass per game and paired that with one tackle and three ball recoveries per game as well, via Sofascore.

Willing to attack full-backs, but also keen on digging in to help out the team, this seems like an ideal Everton signing.
