Farhad Moshiri will leave behind quite the mess at Everton, but few can fault his ambition across his near-eight years in charge of the club.

The Iranian joined with the promise that the Toffees would no longer be a museum, but instead a powerhouse of the sport once again.

It’s fair to say that he has failed to deliver on that statement.

However, with a brand-new stadium due to be completed in the coming months, a strong foundation is in place for Dan Friedkin to work with.

And, as Alan Myers has now revealed, Farhad Moshiri did leave Everton with one last parting gift before striking a deal with the American.

Taking to X, the revered Sky Sports reporter would give his assessment on the proposed takeover, due to be completed before the January transfer window at the latest.

And, despite having lobbied that John Textor was in the driving seat, his tune had changed quite dramatically in the face of all the new news released.

Even he admitted to being surprised, but then wrote: ‘I have a feeling this one will happen, and I like the feel of it too. I feel for John Textor as he genuinely had good intentions, good ideas and a lot of respect for Everton. The TFG offer will make Everton virtually debt free, FM felt this deal was best in interest of the club.’

Then, one fan would reply questioning: ‘Alan, despite all the disastrous decisions he has made, do you think that Moshiri is genuinely putting the interests of Everton first here?’

Myers then simply replied: ‘So I’m told.’

Everton cannot say Farhad Moshiri didn’t try

Although his efforts to take Everton back to the top were misguided and ultimately a complete disaster, few can fault his effort.

After all, he ploughed plenty of money into the club in a desperate attempt to fast-track their route to the apex of European football.

They spent big on managers, players, directors of football and a new stadium, yet none have promised success just yet.

His tenure was expected to usher in a new era of prosperity and progress for the Toffees, built off promises he could not keep with his unsustainable and thoughtless long-term strategy.

At last now, by acting with a little bit of intelligence and patience on this front, he can gift the Evertonians an owner who might actually be able to lead them into the brighter future once promised.
