Everton are going through a bit of a bad run of form at the moment and have slipped into the bottom half of the Premier League as a result.

Everton have won just one of their last seven games in all competitions and are still searching for their first win in 2026.

The Toffees were knocked out of the FA Cup by Sunderland at the weekend, and that’s led to a bit of pressure building up on David Moyes.

What will you think about TFG if Everton don’t address their needs in the winter window? 🤔

The pressure is on The Friedkin Group according to Alan Myers…

So, when Moyes’ side face Aston Villa this weekend, there will be some expectation to get a positive result.

That said, Alan Myers has explained that Everton are set to receive an ‘imminent’ boost that will be pivotal in turning the poor form around.

Alan Myers says Jarrad Branthwaite’s ‘imminent’ return will be key for Everton

Myers’ exclusive Everton News column was published on Monday morning, and within it, he explained that Jarrad Branthwaite is set to return.

Branthwaite, who has been absent all season, has been recovering from a hamstring injury, but he’s set to give Moyes a much-needed boost.

“Jarrad Branthwaite’s imminent return will also be key, but again he’ll need time to get completely up to speed too,” the journalist explained.

“I’ve said before that the first 14 or so can perform well on any given day, but as we’ve seen just recently after that there is a concern.”

Myers added: “It’s clear TFG need to spend too, the recruitment team need to step up and get players in that can help to make the second half of the season something to give fans hope. They don’t expect miracles at this point, but they do expect progress.”

Jarrad Branthwaite will need time to get up to speed

Branthwaite won’t be playing 90 minutes from the get-go, as he will need some time to get up to speed and become match fit again.

Speaking exclusively to Everton News, Dr Brah reckons Branthwaite will be eased back into action to avoid repeating the same injury.

“With how long he’s been out and how important a core piece he is for the squad, I would expect his runway to be longer so as to not risk reinjury.”

The Doctor also added: “Hard to say when he might be ready for a full 90, but the club will be very gradual with him.”
