Everton are closing in on their second signing of the summer transfer window.
It has not exactly been the electric start that a lot of Everton fans would have hoped for, but the Toffees are now kicking into life.
David Moyes is in desperate need of new signings having seen his squad decimated by free agent departures at the end of June.
In the early stages of the market, Everton are focusing on a striker addition to replace the outbound Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
There is also a belief that greater competition is required in that position, with Everton struggling for a consistent goal threat for years now.
Everton are closing in on a deal for Thierno Barry from Villarreal, but Alan Myers has now shared what he’s actually heard about the pursuit.

Everton close to sealing Thierno Barry deal
According to Fabrizio Romano, Barry to Everton is now a done deal, with the paperwork now just needing to be signed.
Barry is currently enjoying time off in Miami following the U21 Euros, but his move to Everton does appear to be nearing.
Taking to social media, Alan Myers responded to the update from Romano, suggesting there is still some finer details to iron out.
“It’s very likely to happen but nothing signed yet, it’s progressing well though,” he said.
Moyes is open to signing more than one striker this summer after losing both Calvert-Lewin and Armando Broja already this summer.
A big season lies ahead for Everton, and it looks like they will now have a new number nine to lead the line forward.
Barry will likely arrive late to pre-season
Everton players will soon begin to trickle back through the doors at Finch Farm ahead of what will be a gruelling pre-season.
After joining in January, this is the first real opportunity Moyes will have had to really push his players’ fitness levels.
However, after playing for France at the U21 Euros recently, Barry has only just jetted off for his summer break.
This will likely mean he will not land on Merseyside until late in July, but Moyes will be hoping to have him in time for the trip to the United States.
