Everton have already been prolific in the transfer market, welcoming two faces to Goodison Park, one new and one familiar.

Tim Iroegbunam represents an exciting acquisition from Aston Villa, whilst Jack Harrison marks a smart signing, returning from Leeds United on another shrewd loan spell.

Meanwhile, their third acquisition, or what seemed set to be, was Iliman Ndiaye, inarguably the most exciting of the bunch.

The Senegal international had seemingly tied up his move completely, with Fabrizio Romano even confirming the deal for Ndiaye was done.

And yet, nearly a week later, we’re still waiting…

Normally, in these dire moments, fans turn to Alan Myers as a beacon of hope.

The Sky Sports journalist is a remarkably well-informed man, and often seeks to use his platform on X to keep supporters in the loop and ease any fears they might have.

Whether it be takeover rumours or transfer links, he seemingly knows all.

However, on this occasion, he seems worryingly uninformed, as one fan asked if he knew if the Ndiaye deal had been signed off yet.

His reply was short and uninspiring: ‘Not aware of that.’

Surely this Everton deal is as good as done?

Whilst at first the delay was thought to be purely PSR related, as they sought to push it through until after the June 30th deadline, the fact that we are two days into July and yet to see any movement has fans worried.

After all, they have seen this film before, with Arnaut Danjuma having been all but tied up in January 2023 before he turned around at the eleventh hour and opted to join Tottenham Hotspur instead.

Crazier things have happened, and this is a fanbase notorious for expecting the worst.

Pessimism is justifiably rife around Goodison Park, with the club having done little to ease this overriding feeling of misery across the last three decades.

But on this occasion, as seemingly the only party interested in Ndiaye, it has to be as good as done.

Myers may not have heard official confirmation, but that does not mean things are not tied up.

Hopefully, on this occasion, he remains just slightly out of the loop, and we can expect the deal to be announced in the coming days to ease fans’ worries.
