Everton and its loyal fanbase have suffered from years of misguidance under Farhad Moshiri, resulting in the steady regression of this fine footballing institution.
Once a pillar of the English game, decades of mediocrity on the pitch have seen its stock fall, with the Iranian businessman providing the final push to send them into oblivion.
Since his takeover, financial ruin, PSR punishments, mounting debts and relegation troubles have been commonplace, especially in the last few years.
But, few can deny the ambition he once showed in an effort to put the Toffees back where he felt they belonged.
There is little chance that any Evertonian will look back on his tenure with any fondness, but equally, the legacy he leaves behind does have a few overwhelmingly positive traits.
John Textor frustrated Farhad Moshiri
Naturally, among those successes is the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium, which promises to provide the foundation for huge long-term progress.
It’s impossible not to laud Farhad Moshiri for his work in pushing this through, even if it has drained the club for years now.
And, with this latest update from Alex Crook, speaking live on talkSPORT just yesterday (24/09, 4:45 pm), it seems this is not the only intelligent move made of late.
After all, with John Textor seemingly pushing hard to win the takeover race, his desperation was blatantly evident.
This spilt over into a string of interviews where he outlined his plans for the club despite having yet to sell his Crystal Palace shares, a huge stumbling block.

It turns out that his little tirade had quite the impact on Moshiri, who did not appreciate the volatile nature of this potential owner.
Crook noted: ‘Well, that was John Textor who came out and gave that interview. I don’t think that went down particularly well with Moshiri. It was maybe another reason why they decided to go in a different direction.’
Dan Friedkin set to win Everton takeover race
So, with Textor having lost the battle despite his best efforts, it seems Dan Friedkin will win the race to buy Everton instead.
A fellow American, boasting a few more billion dollars than his compatriot and takeover rival, he promises far more stability than Textor would offer even if the two both already own alternative clubs in Europe.

What will excite Evertonians most about Friedkin is his tendency to solve financial issues, having wiped AS Roma of their debts upon completion of that takeover.
Already reports are suggesting he will do the same at Everton now too.
Textor may have been a viable alternative, but his reckless and at times desperate nature was never going to be a good look amongst Evertonians or Moshiri.
The latter, for all the mistakes he has made, has seemingly made the right call in this regard.
