Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s season hasn’t entirely gone to plan in front of goal, with the striker netting three times for Everton thus far.
For Sean Dyche and Everton, the sooner the 26-year-old finds form, the better, regardless of the points handed back by the Premier League.
The Toffees’ inability to find the back of the net has been hindering their otherwise impressive performances.
Midfielder Amadou Onana has been discussing the striker’s form and claimed Calvert-Lewin could perform in a different position.
Onana makes Calvert-Lewin Everton claim
Talking on the Premier League’s YouTube channel, Onana believes the Everton striker would be a great central defender.
“Dom would be a great centre-back, you know,” he said.
The 22-year-old suggested the £1.5million signing used to play as a “number six”.
“He used to play like number six back in the day. He wouldn’t be that bad, you know!
It’s fair to say Everton need goals instead of adding another defender to their ranks.
James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite have been superb during the 2023/24 season and have helped the Toffees to the second-most clean sheets in the top flight.
If Beto and Calvert-Lewin find the net more regularly, Everton will push their way firmly into the mid-table and away from the bottom three.
At the start of February, Dyche alluded to “shared responsibility” to ease his side’s goalscoring issues.

“The braveness to miss is always key for me. It’s the demand on the side of each other, not just us as coaches. It’s about the group and the collective ownership,” he told BBC Sport.
“We ask them to work hard as a group defensively; we ask them to work hard in attack, which they are doing.
“It’s a shared responsibility. It’s not about one person. The attitude’s right towards it – the stats support the performances.
“I’ve always wanted to play effective football that is supportive at the other end with the clean sheets we’re keeping.”
The 52-year-old will hope the visit of West Ham United finally yields his side’s first win of 2024 on Saturday afternoon.
Despite a gap to the bottom three emerging, performances have been poor since the turn of the year, which must be rectified quickly.
