Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti says James Rodriguez will be back for the first game after the international break.

The Toffees face Manchester City tomorrow and then Crystal Palace on April 5.

Rodriguez will be fit again for the visit of the Eagles, Ancelotti confirmed at his pre-match press conference.

“In the international break, we have time to recover some players,” said Ancelotti. “James is one of those and maybe Gbamin.

“James will be available for the game against Crystal Palace. Of course, the two goalkeepers will be available again after the break.

“I think we will only have Doucoure still out. He is doing well in his recovery but I think we have to wait a little bit on him.

“He is doing treatment. He has a fracture on his foot. He is still wearing the [protective] boot and cannot touch the floor. At the moment, we cannot say when he will be back.”

Rodriguez’s craft and flair would have been welcome against City – but it might be an evening for a more workmanlike team.

It’s so hard to defend against City right now and it will take a defensive masterclass like Everton produced at Anfield to get a result.

Rodriguez did play in that game, showcasing his technical quality to tee up Richarlison’s early goal.

And it is a boost that he will be back for the first game of April.
