Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin looks to have hit some good form.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin got on the scoresheet for Everton once again on Wednesday night, as the Toffees overcame Aston Villa by a 2-1 scoreline in an EFL Cup clash. Calvert-Lewin netted the winner early on in the second half.
This strike made it two goals in two games for the 26-year-old, having found the back of the net in the Premier League against Brentford last time out.
A fit and firing Calvert-Lewin will have a transformative impact on Everton’s campaign. He was a huge miss for Everton last season as injuries once again decimated his campaign.
The last two seasons have been extremely difficult for the 11-cap England international, as persistent fitness issues have significantly hampered his ability to consistently play and impress at Goodison Park.
Former Everton winger Andros Townsend is delighted to see Calvert-Lewin on the up again. He witnessed first hand the effect that those injuries had on the £100,000-a-week striker. He said to the BBC, “for Dominic it was not about pressure to come back and save Everton, it was for his own sake. He needed to get back fit.”
“Every time he broke down injured it killed him because he is not a player who doesn’t care about football. He doesn’t lead a lifestyle he shouldn’t. He does everything he can to make sure he is the best he can be, in terms of nutrition, gym, physio – he invests so much money.”
“Every time he does break down, it kills him. The last time, at the end of last season, he was in tears because every time he got going something else went.”

Calvert-Lewin ready to kick on
Sean Dyche will be desperate for Calvert-Lewin to stay fit for a significant spell. If the forward can do that then he has the capacity to fire the Toffees clear for a potential relegation battle.
The manager also needs to ensure that he protects the player. Having paid £26 million to sign Beto from Udinese in the recent summer transfer window, there is now another striker on the books at Everton who can take the pressure of Calvert-Lewin and play enough to make sure that the Englishman isn’t feeling the strain of having to start week in, week out.
Calvert-Lewin needs to get his career back on track and he will hope that his recent form is a sign that the worst of his injury worries are now firmly behind him.
