Everton have suffered from a pretty serious goalscoring problem for some time now.
Goodison Park, previously a fortress where the bulk of the Premier League dreaded visiting, has now become a pushover for most sides, with that fear factor well and truly gone.
Whilst the football played there by the home side has never been the most beautiful, aside from a few spells under a few different managers, there was always a hard-working element that forged more than enough chances to win a match.
Nowadays, that is not the case, and the players are largely forced to feed off scraps for 90 minutes and more.
And yet, Ashley Young has still made a bold goalscoring prediction that includes one of his teammates.
Ashley Young makes Everton goalscorer prediction
Speaking on the Premier League’s YouTube channel, in which a whole host of top-level players gather to answer some quickfire questions, there was one which didn’t really need a debate.
After all, it’s unlikely that anyone would really argue with naming Erling Haaland as the most likely to be the Premier League’s top scorer come the end of the campaign.

Having already won it two times in a row, and already scored ten in seven this season, the Norway international even said himself, such is his confidence.
And yet, Young had other ideas, opting for his compatriot and Everton teammate Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin can be a top striker for Everton
Although he might not hit the lofty heights needed to actually finish as the division’s top scorer, there’s still a quality striker inside Calvert-Lewin just waiting to be unleashed.
After all, his all-around play is really impressive, and were he to add a few more goals to that quality, he would be far more revered across the country.
Even despite his struggles, Calvert-Lewin is still wanted by Juventus, which should be a further mark of his quality.
He has already shown his ability to be a lethal marksman too, scoring 13 and 16 across two consecutive campaigns before injuries struck.
And now, with two goals in his opening seven matches, he has forged a foundation for further success as the year goes on.

The only hope is that the 27-year-old can rekindle some level of proficiency to start putting away more of his chances, having missed a further five this campaign too.
