BBC pundit thinks 27-year-old Everton player will fetch a huge transfer fee this summer

Everton may have enjoyed a fine season full of progression, but this upcoming summer promises to undo plenty of that with some wholesale changes.

After all, the club’s finances are far from fixed, and as such at least a few big sales are expected in the coming months.

Already the likes of Jarrad Branthwaite and Amadou Onana are being touted to some of Europe’s elite, but even Dwight McNeil and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are set to draw interest.

The latter’s recent performances in particular are certain to have amassed plenty more suitors as we enter the transfer market.

Garth Crooks expects Dominic Calvert-Lewin to leave Everton

Writing for BBC Sport, pundit Garth Crooks once again proposed an Everton player for his Team of the Week segment.

However, whilst most of his inclusions have been defensive, due to the rock-solid foundation on which their current run of form is built, he instead opted for Calvert-Lewin up front.

But when assessing his performance, his attention instead turned to the future of the 27-year-old, claiming: ‘His goal in the 2-2 draw against Sheffield United back in December at Bramhall Lane was probably more important. However by the time Calvert-Lewin had provided a starring role in the corresponding fixture at Goodison Park the panic was over and Everton were safe.

‘When you consider the Toffees have reached the 40-point mark having been deducted eight, and the anxiety that has come as a consequence, Sean Dyche and his men deserve congratulations for coming through the ordeal. However the club’s woes are far from over.

‘We are told players need to be sold to balance the books and Calvert-Lewin will certainly be one of their players who will fetch a pretty penny.’

Although, it is worth noting that Calvert-Lewin did not score at Bramall Lane earlier in the season, with goals from Arnaut Danjuma and Abdoulaye Doucoure instead snatching the draw.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has once again made himself invaluable

Just over a year ago, there were serious doubts about whether the former Sheffield United striker had a future at the top level due to his injuries.

He simply could not stay fit, and yet Everton remained completely reliant on him despite his continued absence.

So, when Beto was brought in, it was largely expected that it might mark the steady regression in Calvert-Lewin’s influence.

However, the opposite has occurred, and despite a profligate few months, he is due to finish the campaign having scored seven and assisted a further two in the Premier League.

A solid return, made even more impressive due to his stellar link-up play.

He is invaluable for Sean Dyche, and has seemingly resurrected his career when all seemed lost not too long ago.
