Everton produced a strong display to record a vital win away at West Ham yesterday, with striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin scoring a fine winner at the London Stadium.

It was a resilient display from Sean Dyche’s side as they secured a 1-0 victory, and remained resolute in defence to keep West Ham at bay.

Calvert-Lewin scored his third goal of the season, and put in an otherwise sensational display, and appears to be back to his best after years of injury struggles.

Calvert-Lewin delighted with Everton win

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, the 26-year-old has now opened up on how pleasing the victory was, particularly on the back off his injuries.

“It feels good, it’s the best feeling in the world to come away from home and win in the manner that we did, 1-0 and then see the game out, stick together and defend well and move well as a unit,” he stated about his fitness and the victory.

“You could say a tricky season, maybe it was a tricky start to the season in the first few games but I think in the last few games, bar the derby where things went against us we’ve been good so long may it continue.”

The striker was crucial to his side’s victory even beyond his winning goal in East London. He won six of his nine attempted aerial duels, made four passes into the final third, and his movement was causing nightmares for the West Ham defence.

The forward linked up well with Abdoulaye Doucoure going forward, and provided a physical presence upfront for the visitors.

He took his goal superbly, and helped disrupt West Ham’s build-up play, as well as holding the ball up well to try and start counter-attacks.

If he can maintain his fitness this season, he could be a key figure for Everton in what could become a relegation battle, and if he can start regularly scoring, then he could help solve the problems his side have otherwise faced in front of goal.
