Carlo Ancelotti has delivered his verdict on Rayan, who Everton reportedly scouted a couple of years ago – and it speaks volumes.

Rayan landed in the Premier League a couple of months ago, signing for Bournemouth for around £25 million.

The fee raised eyebrows, as did the supposed £100 million release clause that the Cherries included in his contract.

But just weeks on from his move from Vasco da Gama, many fans are talking about Rayan, who has produced a string of exciting performances in the Premier League.

He’s already scored two goals and made an assist in seven appearances.

And Rayan has been rewarded for his explosive start with a call-up to the Brazil squad by Carlo Ancelotti, who is certainly a fan.

Carlo Ancelotti impressed by Rayan after Everton previously showed interest

Ancelotti has named his latest Brazil squad that will take on France and Croatia during the next international break.

And for the first time, Rayan will be a part of the squad.

Ancelotti spoke of his decision to call up the 19-year-old, saying (via Fabrizio Romano): “Rayan will have great future with the Seleção. He has top quality, he’s powerful, I love his attitude on the pitch.

“His impact in Premier League has been excellent, and it wasn’t easy. I don’t know if he will come to the World Cup but his future is bright.”

Of course, it was recently claimed that Everton actually looked at potentially signing Rayan a couple of years before he did come to the Premier League (via The Athletic).

Ultimately a move did not materialise and Rayan stayed with Vasco da Gama to continue his development.

The verdict from Ancelotti further suggests that Everton could well be haunted by Rayan and what might have been.

He really does look like a special young talent. And Ancelotti – who of course had a spell on Merseyside – is one of the best to ever do it and knows potential when he sees it.

Him already suggesting that Rayan will have a great future with the Brazil team speaks volumes, and it may not be long until a top club comes in and pays that £100 million clause.
