Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti is expected to be the new manager of Real Madrid.

Ancelotti brought the famous tenth Champions League to the Bernabeu in 2014.

And the Italian is poised to come back and replace Zinedine Zidane, as per multiple reports.

The Athletic and Fabrizio Romano both claim that the deal is set to be done.

It represents a hammer blow for Everton as Ancelotti was the biggest cause for optimism around Goodison Park.

The club’s European bid fell away last season but there was faith that the Italian would get it right.

He brought the likes of James Rodriguez to the club and improved others such as Ben Godfrey and Dominic Calvert-Lewin immensely.

Now, Everton face the prospect of replacing Ancelotti with a manager who isn’t as proven at the highest level.

Eddie Howe and Nuno Espirito Santo are two potential contenders with recent Premier League experience who are without a job.

The club cannot afford to be reeling from the impact of Ancelotti’s exit for too long as they look to continue the progress they made under him.
