Wolves have had a bid turned down for Boulaye Dia.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who has reported that Salernitana don’t want to sell the striker as they view him as a key player.

Dia has been on the radar of Everton this summer, prior to their move for Youssef Chermiti and Beto.

The Frenchman scored 16 goals and provided six assists in Serie A last season and attracted attention due to his £21.7 million release clause.

Everton were among the favourites to sign Dia and were reportedly open to using Neal Maupay as part of a deal to lure the forward to Goodison Park.

Could Wolves sign Boulaye Dia or Che Adams?

The Toffees failed to make a concrete approach for Dia and he has since remained in Italy, while Wolves may have an even bigger challenge on their hands to bring him to the top flight.

Serie A’s transfer window also shuts at 11pm tonight and Salernitana would have had to act extremely fast to replace their star striker today.

Wolves are believed to have turned their focus to Che Adams though, who Everton have continuously been linked with in August.

Sean Dyche’s side made a £15 million bid for the Scot last month but eventually ended up bringing Beto in from Udinese, suggesting their pursuit of Adams has come to an end.

However, the 27-year-old could well still earn his quick return to the Premier League if Wolves are willing to pay the fee for his signature.

While Everton have been offered the chance to sign Danny Ings on deadline day, they look to be more interested in bringing in a new winger before 11pm. The likes of Wilfried Gnonto, Luis Sinisterra and Kamaldeen Sulemana remain on the shortlist.
