Everton may have already enjoyed a pretty successful summer of transfers, but it could still be set to get better.

After all, the announcement of Iliman Ndiaye is surely impending, and the numerous rumours that remain around Goodison Park tell the story of a favourable few months set to come for the Toffees.

And that positivity is only set to be boosted further, with one club owner having admitted that a player Kevin Thelwell is chasing could actually leave this summer.

Hull City owner reacts to rumours of Jaden Philogene’s exit

Speaking live on talkSPORT just yesterday (02/07, 12:48 pm), Hull City’s owner, Ali Acun Ilicali, reacted to the rumours regarding Jaden Philogene.

And whilst he was somewhat defiant in his stance to retain the young winger, he also admitted that there might come a time where there was little he could do to stop him.

He noted: ‘Everything is true. Of course, if you ask me, I told my fans that I would sell nobody. My idea in football is not to make money, my idea is to make a strong and bigger club.

‘But to make a bigger club, sometimes if a player says I want to go, that’s a different case. For me, if one player changes, it’s not the end of the road.

’But if any of my players, I will never want to ruin their career or their mood because by pushing them because there is a contract. If Jaden wants to move and says he wants to go somewhere, this is something we cannot do too much because this is his life.

‘I love all of my boys. For me, their life and career, I am responsible too. If they don’t want to play with us, they don’t want to play with us.’

Everton have been credited with an interest in Jaden Philogene, and so too have Barcelona, with a £17m fee discussed.

Everton are finally shopping in the right areas

Having snagged Tim Iroegbunam from Aston Villa’s academy, brought Jack Harrison back on loan, and in previous seasons sought to acquire underappreciated talent from the likes of Italy, Portugal and France, it finally seems like the Toffees are shopping in the right areas.

The Championship boasts a wealth of talent, and Crystal Palace’s recent success can be heavily owed to their ability to pick out the best of it.

The core of their current squad, consisting of Adam Wharton, Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze, all came directly from that division to Selhurst Park.

They are now some of the finest players in the Premier League.

Philogene would represent similar business, and could follow an announcement of Nidaye, another who recently tore up the Championship too.

Finally, Everton are opening their eyes to the wealth of possibilities outside of just taking unwanted cast-offs from bigger clubs.
