Cristiano Ronaldo is widely regarded as one of the best footballers of all time.

The former Sporting, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus and now Al Nassr striker has scored a whopping 946 goals throughout his glittering career.

Ronaldo is the record-top scorer in international football, having struck 141 times for Portugal since making his debut in 2003.

The 40-year-old is still plying his trade for the national team and is likely to play at his sixth World Cup in the US next summer.

Speaking back in June, Ronaldo actually came out and publicly praised a former Everton manager.

Cristiano Ronaldo hailed a former Everton manager Roberto Martinez

Ronaldo was full of praise for his Portugal manager Roberto Martinez back in June as he labelled the former Everton boss ‘extraordinary’.

“Talking about other coaches is a lack of sense, but the coach has done an extraordinary job,” Ronaldo told O Jogo in June.

“Even when you win, there is this debate, but it is part of the parrots who are at home and give their opinion.

“What we have to say is that we are very happy with the work that the coach has done, because arriving with a different nationality, speaking our language, singing our anthem with a passion that I see, that is what I value most.

“The rest doesn’t matter at all. The results are very positive, regardless of whether we win or not. There will always be debate, but, for me, it makes no sense at all.”

Roberto Martinez’s sensational record with Portugal

Since replacing Fernando Santos in January 2023, Martinez has won a very impressive 26 games from his 33 in charge.

Portugal are currently top of Group F in the World Cup qualification phase, having won every game so far, beating Hungary, Armenia and the Republic of Ireland.

Martinez’s side are among the favourites to win the World Cup, so clearly the former Toffees boss is really impressing.

Although, his last tournament ended at the quarter-final stage, as France defeated them on penalties at EURO 2024.
