David Moyes and Everton must be furious after PGMOL completely contradicts previous ruling

There has been one main talking point following Everton’s loss against Liverpool with James Tarkowski coming under scrutiny.

Everton were unable to help their manager claim his first-ever victory of his career away at Anfield.

It was a frustrating night for David Moyes, who saw some big opportunities squandered by his side with a result there for the taking.

Moyes was left furious with Jack Harrison’s performance in what was a telling night for the likely future of the winger on Merseyside.

And the 61-year-old’s mood is unlikely to have improved in the wake of the game with the statement to have been released by the PGMOL chiefs.

Tarkowski was extremely fortunate not to be sent off following his challenge on Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister and the decision has caused a huge storm of controversy.

What PGMOL have said about James Tarkowski’s challenge on Alexis Mac Allister

It was a shocker of a challenge from Tarkowski, with many across the league left scratching their heads over how VAR did not overturn the decision.

After the game, Tarkowski apologised to Mac Allister after having the opportunity to review the challenge at half-time.

On Thursday, the PGMOL have acknowledged the officials in charge at Anfield did not get the decision right on the night.

Gary Neville was stunned Tarkowski wasn’t sent off and many will share his opinion on the challenge.

The Blues have had a number of decisions that have not gone in their favour this season including VAR overturning Everton’s penalty against Manchester United.

Although it is the correct call, it does not line up to what has previously gone against Everton in recent months.

Brentford’s Christian Norgaard had Everton red card overturned for similar challenge

Earlier in the season, Christian Norgaard was red carded for a high challenge on Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

However, Norgaard’s red card was rescinded after the FA believed his actions did not actually qualify for serious foul play.

Many Everton fans will consider these two challenges not too dissimilar considering where the contact was made.

But the PGMOL have only spoken on Tarkowski’s challenge as they disagreed with the decision made on the pitch at Anfield.

It is just another example of the lack of consistency across the board with the refereeing officials.
