On Monday night, it’s the big one as Everton travel to Elland Road with a chance to make an early statement against Leeds United.

After what has been a summer of preparing for months, the Premier League has now come around, and it’s a tough start for the Toffees.

There is every chance that Jack Grealish debuts against Leeds, as Moyes has hinted at Grealish starting, but time will tell if he does.

He’s the big attraction for the Everton fans, but the main aim is to secure three points.

Luckily for the Toffees, they’re in safe hands, as the Everton boss has the chance to write his own history in West Yorkshire.

David Moyes won’t have a higher win rate against any other team if Everton beat Leeds United

The 62-year-old has had a great managerial career, with the Blues being a major part of his history, of course.

But it turns out that the Scotsman loves playing against Leeds, as Moyes has won seven of his 10 Premier League games against the Whites, drawing two others and losing one.

But the more important matter is that of the sides he’s faced at least 10 times in the top flight, only against Sunderland (71%), does he have a higher win rate than against the West Yorkshire side (70%).

A win against the Peacocks would mean he has a new team as his favourite opposition, and adding in the fact that Moyes is unbeaten against Daniel Farke helps his chances.

What David Moyes said about Leeds United as Everton hope to continue away form

This bodes very well for the Toffees as it seems like Moyes has good luck when he faces Leeds.

Of course, the Toffees manager will know how difficult a game the encounter will be, and with Jarrad Branthwaite out for six weeks, this doesn’t make it any easier.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Moyes detailed what he expects as they look to continue their strong form from last campaign.

“Tough game. It’s a brilliant stadium, got brilliant support, it’s a one-club city. We’re thrilled to see them back in the Premier League,” Moyes said.

“Tough game when you go to a newly promoted side right away – but we finished the season really well.”

The plan is to continue their strong away run, as at the back end of the last season, the Toffees were flying on their travels.

But Elland Road on the opening day is a different enemy, and the Toffees will have to perform excellently to secure the three points.
