Everton are back in Premier League action this evening as they take on West Ham United at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

After disapointing defeats to Liverpool and Wolves, David Moyes’ side will be desperate to get back into the win column.

Everton haven’t tasted defeat at their new 52,000-seater stadium, so they will certainly fancy themselves this evening.

Moyes, writing in his programme notes ahead of the game, has doubled down on his ambitions for the club this season.

David Moyes reiterates desire to return Everton to Europe

Writing in his programme notes, Moyes made it clear once again that the aim for Everton is to qualify for Europe.

“Tonight we welcome West Ham, where recently we enjoyed three continuous years of European football, mostly playing on a Thursday night and a Sunday,” the Scotsman wrote.

“That gives you very little rest and preparation time between European assignments and your next Premier League game. But it was an exciting time for everyone at the club, especially the supporters.

“I really hope I can earn the opportunity to get back into European football here at Everton.

“At West Ham, I built so many special relationships with players and staff and that togetherness certainly helps you during those busy and difficult times.”

David Moyes issues rallying cry to Everton fans

Moyes also thanked fans for their support at the new Hill Dickinson Stadium and urged them to continue creating electric atmospheres.

“I hope you’re all beginning to get used to our new stadium,” Moyes said. “As West Ham would testify, it is never easy moving grounds but in time it does become much better.

“The good part of our move is that we have got off to a good start. After winning our first two matches here we found it difficult to get a winning goal against Aston Villa on our last visit but, overall, our performance deserved all three points.

“Your support inside the stadium has played a big part in us starting so well. Please keep it going. We thrive on the atmosphere you are producing.”

The Toffees are playing under the lights at the new stadium for the first time, so it should be an even more amplified atmosphere than usual.
