Everton suffered a second successive defeat on Tuesday night as they crashed out of the Carabao Cup to Wolves.

David Moyes’ side were expected to beat Wolves after their abysmal start to the Premier League season, losing all five games.

However, Vitor Pereira’s men managed to beat Everton by two goals to nil in front of a Molineux crowd who were ready to turn.

It was a really disappointing evening for the Toffees and Moyes, speaking post-match, was left fuming with one moment he saw.

Speaking post-match, Moyes was really frustrated with the manner of the first Wolves goal, labelling it a ‘diabolical and ‘terrible’ bit of defending.

“It was a 0-0 game in the first half,” the Scotsman explained.

“We gave away a diabolical goal. Wolves weren’t better than us in the first half, they were for the first 10 minutes or so, but they weren’t better.

“The game was a 0-0, they probably scored against the run of play in some ways. We gave away a terrible first goal which altered things and made the game a bit more difficult.

“I thought we probably dominated most of the second half, we just couldn’t find a way of getting a goal.”

Everton must respond against West Ham United

Everton have to react to the two defeats with a win against West Ham United on Monday, who are struggling at the moment.

West Ham are considering sacking Graham Potter after four defeats in five Premier League games, leaving them in the relegation zone.

Nuno Espirito Santo, Slaven Bilic and Sean Dyche have been mooted to replace Potter, so Everton may have to prepare for a totally different game.

The Toffees remain unbeaten at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, so they’ll be desperate to preserve that record.
