Despite a threadbare squad, the Toffees rocked up and delivered a fine display, with David Moyes getting his tactics spot on.

What a win! Everton fans, who was your Man of the Match against Aston Villa?

So many great performances 🔥

Thierno Barry scored in exquisite fashion, and Everton defended magnificently in the second-half to take three massive points.

The result has pushed Everton into the top half, and fans will hope that this result will be the catalyst to kick on after a poor start to the calendar year.

After the game, Moyes was spotted chatting with England manager Thomas Tuchel – and the boss made a suggestion in his Sky interview about two players.

Against Villa, James Garner produced a superb display.

The 24-year-old has been enjoying a fine season for the Toffees, and he was excellent once again against Villa.

The star constantly showed for the ball and was so tidy in possession, and also covered so much ground.

After the game, Moyes was asked what he was talking to Thomas Tuchel about after the pair were spotted conversing at Villa Park.

The Scot said on Sky Sports: “Well there’s one or two that should be getting close. Let’s hope maybe in the future they will do. I think the likes of Jimmy Garner and Kieran Dewsbury-Hall have been doing brilliant for us this year. So long may that continue.”

Garner will have done England prospects no harm vs Aston Villa

Garner has been enjoying a tremendous season for Everton, and this display against Everton will have many people standing up and taking note.

And one hopes that Thomas Tuchel will be one of those people.

England have games in March so hopefully the Everton man will continue to impress in midfield up until that point.

If he is able to get called up for those games in March, then that puts him in a really exciting position.

It would be fantastic to see him go to the World Cup in the summer and if he keeps playing like he is doing now, then it would be fully deserved.
