Everton have a Carabao Cup game before they return to Premier League action.

David Moyes‘ side travel to Molineux this evening to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers in the third round.

Everton then face West Ham United on Monday, with Moyes meeting his former club for only the second time since leaving.

West Ham could have a new manager by then, as Slaven Bilic is being heavily rumoured to replace Graham Potter.

Ahead of the game at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, the Premier League have just made an announcement that may concern Moyes.

Sam Barrott appointed referee for Everton vs West Ham United

The Premier League have announced the officials who will be in charge of Everton’s game against West Ham United, and Sam Barrott has been appointed referee.

Moyes may be a little concerned, as Barrott oversaw the Merseyside derby in April, when there was controversy about Liverpool’s winner.

The Scotsman was sure Luis Diaz was offside in the build-up.

“He’s offside. I’ve not had an explanation, but I’ve said that I’m disappointed,” Moyes said post-match.

“It’s quite an easy one to give as well, because all of our players are holding the 18-yard line, Diaz comes from behind and affects Tarky from behind, clearly.

“I’m really surprised it wasn’t given – or maybe I’m not surprised.”

Sam Barrott’s record against Everton

Barrott has refereed four Everton games, and three of them have ended in defeat, with just one victory against Crystal Palace back in November 2023.

Clearly, the Toffees don’t have a great record when Barrott is in charge, but they will be expected to win next week as West Ham have been struggling this season.

The Hammers have lost four of their first five games, meanwhile, Everton are looking to qualify for Europe.

Although, the two sides cancelled each other out last season, drawing both games in the Premier League.
