Everton are in the mix for a new striker, with Folarin Balogun of interest to David Moyes.

It’s been reported Everton are one of several sides looking to land Balogun this summer, off the back of an impressive World Cup.

Just focusing on Everton’s right-back search, who should the club bring in this summer and why? 🤔

From Spence, to White, to Norton-Cuffy, there have been links to so many players so far…

Balogun scored three times for the USMNT, and has been developing nicely over the past couple of years.

At the moment, right-back is the biggest priority for Everton. But a new striker has always been a consideration – especially following criticism of Beto and Thierno Barry.

Amid the interest in Balogun it is perhaps worth revisiting what Tim Howard said last month.

As per the report from TEAMtalk, Balogun is being chased by a number of Premier League clubs.

Sunderland lead the charge at the moment, but there’s also interest from Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United and Fulham.

But Everton are mentioned too and only last month, former goalkeeper Tim Howard suggested Balogun is a player the club should be signing.

He said on Unfiltered Soccer, when asked by Landon Donovan which US internationals he can see playing for Everton: “So my question is, who from the US Men’s National Team can you see playing for Everton and making a huge impact for that team?

“Good question. Great question. I would take a lot of our players.

“I would take Chris Richards, I would take Flo. Flo needs to get out of France.

“Alex Freeman. I would take all of our big players. I think they could all fit in Everton.”

Balogun scored 19 goals across all competitions last term, which has led to plenty of attention for him in the current transfer window.

Not only are there clubs from England keen, but the likes of Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund are interested as well.

Incidentally, Chris Richards from Crystal Palace could also make a great signing for Everton.

He hasn’t been linked, and there are no indications Palace would be looking to sell him. But he is an underrated centre-back who would be a much younger and athletic option than James Tarkowski and Michael Keane, while still having a lot of experience.

But Balogun would be a real statement signing by Everton, who really do need to upgrade on Beto and Thierno Barry if they are to get to another level.

His haul of 19 goals last term was impressive, and just shows he has developed a real cutting edge in the final third, something Everton have sorely lacked in recent times.
