The transfer market is exploding, and it is making one signing Everton made look absolutely superb.
The Toffees are looking to get things moving now, with pre-season just around the corner.
A deal for Hayden Hackney has been agreed, and the club are also talking with Chelsea about a permanent move for Tyrique George.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is one of the best signings Everton have made in years, isn’t he?!
Not only does he have great final third output, but he's got the work-rate to boot 🔥
In an ideal world, Everton will have a much better window than they did last summer.
The Friedkin Group’s first summer window ultimately proved to be fairly mediocre, with only a couple of players impressing for Everton.
And one of those players was Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, whose fee is actually now looking incredibly cheap amid developments elsewhere this summer.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall fee is a total bargain now for Everton
At the moment, we are seeing some extremely expensive transfers taking place involving midfielders.
Recently, Manchester City agreed a £116 million deal to sign Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest.
Then, Tottenham Hotspur made headlines as they first agreed an £85 million deal to sign Mateus Fernandes, and then one to land Sandro Tonali for £100 million.

The fees here just show what a brilliant job Everton did getting Dewsbury-Hall for the fee they did.
And arguably, Dewsbury-Hall had a better season than all these players.
He does play a slightly different role to the others, having operated higher up the pitch for Everton.
But there’s no denying he was one of Everton’s best players in 2025/26, contributing eight goals and six assists in 32 appearances. James Garner won the club’s Player of the Season award, but Dewsbury-Hall had to have run him close.
£28 million actually did feel like a lot when Everton signed him from Chelsea. Perhaps that was because he didn’t feature much in the Premier League.
But he very quickly made that fee look cheap, and the deals that are happening now are helping to make this now look like one of the bargains of the century.
And it will surely only look better and better as time goes on and the market gets even crazier.
Dewsbury-Hall could be a future Everton captain
Much has been made of Dewsbury-Hall’s ability to contribute in the final third, and also his relentless work out of possession.
He is all action, and for a team to have a midfielder like this is so valuable.
But Dewsbury-Hall has also already shown traits of a potential captain, and could well become Everton’s skipper later down the line.

Dewsbury-Hall took accountability for Everton’s end to 2025/26 and was seemingly the only person to realise what a missed opportunity it was for the club.
He also regularly spoke with clarity and authority throughout the season.
So that’s £28 million on a player who scores, assists, presses, tackles and also shows leadership, and everyone involved in his transfer to Hill Dickinson Stadium deserves major credit.
