Dean Henderson uses one word to describe Jordan Pickford amid England rivalry

Jordan Pickford is the main man for both Everton and England, but his deputy for the Three Lions in Dean Henderson is enjoying a strong season.

The Crystal Palace No.1 has kept 17 clean sheets in 47 appearances this term, with 11 of those coming in the Premier League – only David Raya and Gianluigi Donnarumma have kept more.

Jordan Pickford can also boast 11 Premier League clean sheets, and when asked to describe the Everton glovesman in one word, Henderson opted for an interesting choice.

Should Jordan Pickford now be considered one of the world’s best goalkeepers? 🤔

Dean Henderson uses “friend” to describe Jordan Pickford

Some may assume there is a bitterness between the two with Henderson targeting Pickford’s England spot, but there is nothing of the sort.

When Sky Sports asked the former Manchester United star to use just one word to label current and former teammates, the 29-year-old chose “friend” when the Everton stopper came up.

It says a lot that Pickford has managed to limit Henderson to just four caps for England, and largely taken away his chance to ever become a regular for the Three Lions, but there is still such fondness from the Crystal Palace captain.

It suggests the 32-year-old is a top character behind the scenes, and Henderson is not the only one he’s popular amongst.

Jack Grealish has also hailed Pickford as one of his best friends in football, while John Stones – who could return to Everton this summer – has previously said the same thing about the former Sunderland man.

Clearly, the Everton star is not just a top goalkeeper, but evidently a popular man within the dressing room for both club and country.

With a contract running until July 2029, along with the fact he is settled on Merseyside, Everton fans should be able to enjoy the benefits of Pickford for many more years to come.
