Declan Rice has summed Jordan Pickford up in two words.

In a video posted to England’s TikTok account, the midfielder was asked to describe each of his international teammates in a single word.

While Rice didn’t quite meet the criteria for his funny description of the Everton goalkeeper, he seemed to get it pretty spot on from what fans see of him on the pitch.

When asked about Pickford, Rice immediately responded with a smile and said: ‘Mad man’.

Pickford’s antics and loud-mouth attitude for Everton and England certainly make him seem pretty mad, with his recent double save against Sheffield United a perfect example, as he reacted with a funny face pull and an Italian gesture with his hands.

The 29-year-old is well known for being demanding and perhaps a little scary at times, constantly shouting at his outfield players for both club and country.

James Tarkowski seems to agree with Rice on Pickford ‘mad man’ comment

James Tarkowski previously offered his own opinion on his teammate, telling The Times: “He annoys me a little bit, I tell him that.

“He does talk a lot. I suppose it’s better than not talking at all. He’s demanding. He’s everything you want from a modern-day goalkeeper. He makes incredible match-winning saves, the manager calls it ‘saving the unsaveables’. The ones you’re expecting to go in, he saves those.

“He’s also like another outfield player for us. If you watch us play, he steps inbetween the two central centre halves and he’ll spray it round the pitch. He’s got such an incredible range of passing. He could play outfield if he wanted. He wouldn’t want the running around.”

Rice’s ‘mad man’ claim about Pickford came ahead of England’s friendly against Scotland tonight.

Various reports have claimed the Toffees man will be benched for tonight’s game at Hampden Park, with Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale set to take his spot in between the sticks.
