Dele Alli has taken to Instagram to issue a promising update as he looks to return to full fitness.
Dele hit the headlines when he opened up about his experiences with addiction during an interview last year, receiving plenty of support from fans and players.
However, the midfielder hasn’t been able to bounce back from a tough period as he has continued his recovery from an injury that has kept him out of action since February 2023.
Dele is now a free-agent after leaving Everton at the end of his contract, but is still training with the club and could well return if an agreement can be made.
The 28-year-old took to Instagram yesterday to share a Naruto-inspired video that gave supporters a glimpse into his recovery.

Dominic Solanke backs Dele’s return
The caption read: “In the world, no one is perfect. But along the way, you’ll become something great. – Naruto Uzumaki.”
The last line of the video also said – “I’ve still got tons of reserve power!” – which is likely a suggestion of Dele’s eagerness to get back on the pitch.
The former Tottenham star received plenty of comments in response, with Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke writing: “Open the gates!”
Dele then replied with: “Don’t worry it’s coming.”
Should Everton give the midfielder another chance?
He is very unlikely to be ready for Everton’s opener against Brighton, while it is unclear when he will even rejoin the club – if at all.
However, he has made it obvious that he feels he is ready to reignite his career and show the Premier League that he is back.
While the Toffees surely want him to succeed at Goodison Park, the matter of his salary and fitness remains a huge talking point – and one they will have to decide whether they want to risk.
Dele could still be given a chance to shine on Merseyside, but even if he was to impress once again, it would take him some time to find his feet and also return to full fitness after so long on the sidelines.
There is definitely the argument that he deserves another opportunity at Everton, but fans will have to be very patient with him.
It would be interesting to see where he ended up if the Toffees weren’t to offer him a contract though, as it wouldn’t be surprising to see him join a newly-promoted club or go back abroad.
