Dimitar Berbatov has made his prediction ahead of Everton vs Brighton & Hove Albion.

Speaking to METRO, the former striker admitted that he was backing the visitors to take all three points this weekend.

Everton will look to replicate May’s brilliant 5-1 thrashing of the Seagulls tomorrow and will be brimming with confidence after picking up five wins in seven games.

After a horrific start to the Premier League campaign, the Toffees looked to have turned things around as they now sit five points above the relegation zone – only another three from the top half.

Meanwhile, Brighton’s focus seems to have shifted away from the top flight as they look to enjoy success in the Europa League. Roberto De Zerbi’s side sit third in their group after their recent win over Ajax, however they haven’t come out on top in any of their last four league games.

Everton will know this is a brilliant time to be facing Brighton as they approach another Europa League clash next week, however Berbatov still thinks the Seagulls can bag their first win since September at Goodison Park.

Predicting a 3-1 win for the visitors, Berbatov said: “Everton got a much-needed win against West Ham last week, giving themselves some space between the bottom three.

“Brighton – well if I could play for any team right now it would be them! They aren’t quite where I want them to be at the moment but I back them to beat Everton away from home.”

Is Dimitar Berbatov underestimating Everton?

Brighton are certainly a very exciting team to play for at the moment, but Dimitar Berbatov seems to be ignoring how solid Everton’s backline has actually been.

Jarrad Branthwaite has been brilliant since replacing Michael Keane in the team and they have now conceded only two goals in their last four games – both of which came against Liverpool.

The Seagulls have a lot of talent in their team and it won’t be easy, but I think the Toffees would be disappointed if they don’t at least get a point this weekend.
