Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has discussed his recent treatment from fans.

Everton finally got a Premier League win this season, with a 3-1 victory over Brentford on Saturday. Abdoulaye Doucoure, James Tarkowski, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin got the goals for the Toffees.

It will have been a huge boost for Calvert-Lewin to find the back of the net, as the 26-year-old has endured a difficult period recently.

After losing much of the last two seasons to injury, Calvert-Lewin received another blow in this regard when he sustained a facial injury against Aston Villa a few weeks ago. As he left the pitch on that occasion some boos could be heard coming from the Everton fans.

Speaking after the win over Brentford, Calvert-Lewin addressed this moment. As quoted by Sky Sports, the 11-cap England international said, “you can see the emotion at the end with the lads and the fans. It’s been a tough start to the season. It’s been frustrating personally to not be involved as much as I would have liked.”

“Football is a funny old game. When I came off against Aston Villa my own fans booed me off. Today they cheered me. I’ll relish this and take the rest with a pinch of salt.”

Dominic Calvert-Lewin must now kick on at Everton

Calvert-Lewin will now hope to be able to put his injury issues behind him and work on repairing his relationship with the Everton fans by continuing to produce fine performances on the pitch and contributing important goals to the cause.

At his best, the £100,000-a-week forward can be a star player for the Toffees. Sean Dyche will know that if he can keep Calvert-Lewin fit and firing throughout this season, then the Merseyside club will stand a much better chance of avoiding relegation.

Having now gotten this all-important first win under their belts, Everton must now kick on. It is vital that they are able to pick up more points in their upcoming Premier League fixtures against Luton Town and Bournemouth.

Calvert-Lewin may well have a big role to play in helping Everton pick up some positive results in these crucial upcoming matches.
