David Moyes must start to wonder when signings will come through the door at Everton.
The Friedkin Group are hoping to start off their ambitious Everton project with a bang this summer.
But things aren’t going to plan so far.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s future is still being decided, Habib Diarra is off to Sunderland, and there hasn’t yet been confirmation of a deal for Thierno Barry.
July hopes to bring more promise, but another target is now potentially unlikely to join, to Moyes’ dismay, and it could all be thanks to Eberechi Eze.

Eberechi Eze could ruin David Moyes’ transfer plan at Everton
There have already been an array of targets linked with a switch to Everton, but aside from Barry joining, there has been nothing concrete.
To make matters worse, the likes of Leeds United and Sunderland are already making moves this window, and the Toffees are being left behind early on.
Everton want Liverpool’s Ben Doak in a controversial transfer after he impressed for Middlesbrough in the Championship.
But with their bitter rivals holding out for a £30m asking price, Moyes is only willing to pay £15m for Doak, and Crystal Palace might be able to take the lead in this race.
That’s according to Mail Online, who suggest Palace are keen on Doak, as a lot depends on Eze’s future with the Eagles.
Eze has been linked with Tottenham and Arsenal heavily throughout this summer, and that could allow Doak to take Eze’s place, meaning he could be drawn away from joining Everton, with the prospect of European football also on the table.
So, the ball is firmly in Eze’s court, as the England international could start a major domino effect.

Everton have a better Doak alternative if he joins Palace
Although the loss of the Scotsman would be tough, a player joining from Liverpool would never sit well in the Evertonians’ view.
Doak finds Eveton’s move appealing, but if Palace heighten their interest after a potential Eze exit, it could seriously disturb Moyes’ pursuit.
Instead, Moyes might favour going for a long-standing target, as Tom Fellows is ‘more likely’ to join Everton, and judging by the two against each other, it’s a no-brainer for Moyes.
| Ben Doak in 24/25 | Tom Fellows in 24/25 | |
| Games played | 24 | 45 |
| Goal involvements | 10 (3G+7A) | 18 (4G+14A) |
| Chances created | 44 | 62 |
| Cross accuracy % | 23.1% | 31.2% |
| Expected assists (xA) | 4.52 | 6.66 |
A right-winger has been deemed a ‘priority’, and either player would make for an astute capture, but Fellows will have the edge with all things considered.
Eze’s future plays a big part in Everton’s future, as the waiting game continues.
