Eight goals in eight games… Everton have a proper goalscorer breaking through in their academy

Everton are a team crying out for goals.

Goodison Park has been starved of any excitement for what feels like years now, as relegation battle after relegation battle has taken its toll on a fanbase that has given their all.

But what they get in return is pitiful, and would have been enough to drive most supporters away. Not Evertonians, though.

A crazy bunch, who remain unwavering in their support home and away, they deserve much more than what they are being served up.

Fortunately, there seems to be a shining prospect emerging from their academy, who could be their answer to all their prayers.

Who is Cody Ebere?

Cody Ebere joined Everton when he was just 11 years old and has matured into a towering forward with pace and power in abundance.

Having modelled his game around the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo, he has been blessed with the physical attributes to emulate what made him so supremely successful.

And, it doesn’t hurt that his technical assets are clearly impressive too, having fired in eight goals in as many games for the U18s this season, including a brace just yesterday.

Helping his side brush aside Blackburn Rovers, his first goal saw him take a number of intricate touches, weaving his way into the box, bypassing a few challenges, and slotting past the beleaguered goalkeeper.

Then, as if to showcase his well-rounded skillset, his second saw him bully his defender with some shrewd movement, freeing up the space to tap home another.

A proper goalscorer with physicality, technical quality and intelligence to boot, Everton seemingly has a proper talent brewing at Finch Farm.

Everton could have the answer to their goalscoring prayers

And about time too, given how close they have come to producing the answer to their prayers, without actually solving their issues.

There was hope that Ellis Simms might fill the void left by the once perennially injured Dominic Calvert-Lewin, before Tom Cannon was later touted for the same role.

Neither of which made the grade, and subsequently left for Championship outfits last year.

But with the Toffees having scored just 29 goals in the Premier League this season, Sean Dyche needs to find a solution fast.

Fortunately, the issue is not born of chance creation, but rather an inability to finish off the plethora which they forge.

The 18.13 difference between their actual goalscoring figures and the ones expected is the largest in the division, and one hopefully Ebere can bridge in the coming years.
