Leicester City have stepped up their efforts to sign Joel Piroe.
That’s according to LeicestershireLive, who have reported that the newly relegated club have made contact with Swansea City over a move for the striker.
Piroe joined Swansea for only £1.5 million in 2021 and has gone onto impress in the Championship, netting 41 goals in only 88 matches over the last two seasons.

The Dutchman is now entering the final year of his contract and looks increasingly likely to leave Wales this summer, putting the likes of Leicester and Everton on high alert.
Wales Online recently reported that Toffees had enquired about Piroe’s availability, while there had also been rumours that they would consider including Ellis Simms in a swap deal prior to his switch to Coventry City.
However, Leicester have now made contact with Piroe’s representatives, while Atalanta are also said to have approached the Welsh outfit.
MORE EVERTON STORIES
Meanwhile, Southampton are reportedly ‘keeping tabs’ on the situation as they look to bolster their squad following their drop down to the Championship.
Is Everton now a more tempting offer than Leicester for Joel Piroe?
Things could have been very different last summer, however Everton are likely to now have the upper-hand over both Leicester and Southampton in their pursuit of Joel Piroe.

The two clubs will be hoping they can win immediate promotion back to the top flight, however Piroe will surely be tempted by a quick move straight to the goal destination with the Toffees.
With the 23-year-old likely to be available on a cut-price deal and also reportedly eager to make the move, Everton should definitely take advantage of his contract situation and snap up the forward labelled ‘ruthless’ by former boss Russell Martin.
With Ellis Simms out of the picture, Everton will have to try and cough up the funds to lure him to Merseyside this summer.
