It’s been such a difficult period for everyone associated with Everton football club as they await the verdict of their appeal, but now further details have emerged about their financial situation.
Everton are treading above water until they find out whether their appeal to remove the 10-point deduction is successful.
The Toffees are currently in the Premier League relegation mire and occupy that final relegation spot, but a successful appeal would send them back to 12th, where they belong.
While a positive outcome would be huge in their season, there are other pressing matters that Everton are also dealing with and one of those is the 777 Partners takeover.
Their desperate attempts to acquire the club from Farhad Moshiri have been surrounded by unrelenting controversy and although they’ve sanctioned loans totalling £180m, the long-term future of Everton still looks perilous.
This is due to their ‘grim’ financial situation as detailed in a report by The Esk.

Everton’s lack of transparency just as worrying as finances
The Esk is a well-reputed journalist within the Everton space and he’s taken to X to slam Moshiri for being oblivious to the needs of supporters.
He wrote: “Our financial situation is grim, as detailed below. What is equally striking is the complete absence of information, discussion, explanation & indeed a view of how our situation is resolved, from Moshiri or his executive. Leaderless & totally oblivious to the needs of the club’s supporters and custodians.”
A detailed report on the club’s finances was also posted by The Esk and within that, he revealed that Everton had a total of £1 billion in debt and questioned how the 777 Partners would be able to fund the acquisition, loans and future capex requirements if they were to take over at Goodison Park.
On top of that, he also blamed Moshiri for their current situation as he has not accepted his responsibilities and worked within the interests of the club.
Farhad Moshiri has to be more transparent
The relationship between Moshiri and Everton supporters is irreparable; he’s burned too many bridges and that is ultimately why fans have wanted him out for such a long time.
In their current situation, however, the owner has to at least be transparent about how their financial issues can be resolved moving forward.
It’s his job to take responsibility and give supporters at least an ounce of respect, but he hasn’t done that and this has only further damaged his reputation.
Whatever happens in the future, Everton supporters deserve an ownership that has been way more transparent with them than Moshiri ever has.
