Everton are in the market for a new centre-forward ahead of the summer transfer window.

It has just been reported that Everton are exploring a deal to sign Alexander Sorloth from Atletico Madrid.

Sorloth has enjoyed a productive season at the La Liga giants, netting 15 goals in 34 outings, so the potential signing would be considered a coup.

Remember him at Crystal Palace… would you like to see Sorloth at the Hill Dickinson Stadium? 👀

The 30-year-old has previously been described as the ‘King of the North’ by his Norwegian compatriot Erling Haaland.

So, the Everton target is very highly rated in his homeland and across Europe, having recorded prolific records at a number of European clubs.

Alexander Sorloth has drawn comparisons to Erling Haaland

Naturally, Sorloth has drawn lots of comparisons to Haaland, as he’s left-footed, Norwegian and stands at 6ft 5in tall.

However, they’re completely different profiles, as the Atletico Madrid frontman is more of a traditional number nine.

Sorloth likes to pin defenders and link the play, whereas Haaland is often looking to use his pace and exploit space in behind the backline.

Winter window now shut, what striker do you want signed in the summer for Everton? 💥

No excuses can be made when the window opens again 😫

The main concern with this potential transfer is the fact that Sorloth failed in his previous stint in the Premier League.

The 68-cap international netted just one goal in 20 appearances for Crystal Palace before being moved on.

Admittedly, that was several years ago now, and he has improved dramatically since then; it’s just something David Moyes and his recruitment chiefs will have to consider.

Sorloth, on paper, would certainly be an upgrade on Thierno Barry and Beto, plus he’d bring much-needed European experience, if indeed Everton do qualify for one of the competitions this season.
