Everton’s recent form has seen Carlo Ancelotti guide the Toffees into potential title contention. Everton are currently second in the Premier League table and are providing the biggest threat to rivals and title holders Liverpool at present.
Plenty of players have stepped up in recent weeks. In particular, both Ben Godfrey and Mason Holgate have thrived in full-back roles, rather than their preferred centre-back positions.
But whilst it is great to see both players putting in such selfless displays in Everton’s hour of need, it is surely bad news for one Everton academy product.

Jonjoe Kenny was expected to start getting more regular playing time this season following an impressive campaign on loan with Schalke in Germany last term.
However, he has struggled to take his chances when afforded to him and is now behind Holgate and Godfrey in the full-back pecking order, as well as usual starters Seamus Coleman and Lucas Digne.
It is a bitter blow for Kenny but it is beginning to look like the talented defender is simply not set to make Goodison Park his long-term home.

During the summer there was plenty of interest being reported in the England under-21 star. Schalke wanted him back whilst the Daily Mail reported that Kenny was also on Arsenal’s radar.
In September, The Sun On Sunday (27/9/2020; pg 61) claimed that Everton were willing to listen to offers for Kenny if clubs met their £10 million asking price.
After the season that Kenny has had so far, it will be no surprise if we see this Finch Farm graduate sent on his way.
