Everton reportedly views Kasey McAteer with admiration, as the probabilities of a January move are rated.
Everton are no doubt keen to strengthen, however, with any move they make it’ll have to be done with caution to avoid possibly further sanctions being made against the club.
This after the 10-point deduction which left The Toffees in the relegation spots in the Premier League, with only a terrific run of form – highlighted by the display against Chelsea – last month separating them from the drop zone.
However, this hasn’t kept them safe as three consecutive league defeats have left Sean Dyche‘s side on the verge of once more being in the bottom three.
Matters will be made difficult by the fact any January move is unlikely with loans expected to be the trend. That hasn’t stopped Everton from having interest though, with one Leicester man topping their wanted list.

Everton ‘admire’ Kasey McAteer
Everton’s interest in Leicester City’s Kasey McAteer is believed to be substantial with the 22-year-old said to be ‘admired’ by Everton according to The Mail Online.
He’s had something of a breakout year under Enzo Maresca this season, scoring five goals. This has also seen him receive international attention, with Ireland looking to call the winger up – only paperwork denying him a debut so far.
The chances however of a move for Everton in January are believed to be slim at best, given the side’s financial concerns.
Financial reasons will dictate much of what Everton can do in January and likely next summer too with smart decisions crucial if The Toffees are to avoid further points deductions or further action.
Where would Kasey McAteer fit in at Everton?
McAteer is a versatile player and is capable of playing on either wing, behind the striker and has even been trialed at full-back for Leicester this season.
This quality was praised by his manager last season when he spent a loan spell with AFC Wimbledon, Johnnie Jackson.
He said: “His ability is there for all to see, but he has a real versatility about him in the positions he can play.
“A wonderful attitude to his work. He wants to work hard and improve. When you are looking at loanees, that’s the type you want.”
His arrival would make for some pretty intense competition for Dwight McNeil and Jack Harrison. But it seems that if Everton are set on a move, they’ll have to wait until the summer.
