It’s alarming and uncharacteristically impressive the speed at which Everton have gone about their business this summer.
Usually one to get embroiled in lengthy sagas, Kevin Thelwell has made huge positive changes at the club already from the top down.
This is clearly one such example, streamlining the transfer process to avoid any bidding wars and unnecessary additional expenditures.
However, with this one particular target, it seems their hands were tied.
Fortunately, an outcome is at least nearing.
Fabrizio Romano drops Jaden Philogene update
Given Fabrizio Romano dropped a promising update on Everton’s interest in Jaden Philogene just yesterday, Evertonians will be excited to see this saga build.
After all, the ease with which they signed Tim Iroegbunam, Jack Harrison and Iliman Ndiaye was distinctly unlike the Toffees, who have loved to drag out processes such as this in the past.

However, on this occasion, it seems like the delay was through no fault of their own, but instead merely the winger biding his time to assess his options.
Romano has now told fans when they can expect an update, as he wrote on X: ‘Ipswich Town, Crystal Palace and Everton waiting for Jaden Philogene’s final decision. It’s expected to be really soon, with Barça deal already ruled out.’
Philogene is expected to cost £17m for whoever wins the race for his signature.
Everton cannot miss out on both Hull City stars in one window
If Thelwell is to miss out on Philogene, whether it be to the Eagles or the Tractor Boys, this would mark a second signing from Hull City that has opted to snub the Toffees.
After all, Everton’s interest in Jacob Greaves has been prevalent this summer, and yet he is now reportedly set to join Ipswich Town, having undergone his medical.
This left-footed ball-playing defender would have been a fine asset for any Premier League club, and yet it is the newly-promoted side that will take the punt on his services.
Should Jarrad Branthwaite stay, this particular transfer will be quickly forgotten.
However, Philogene is different, given that out wide is a position of real peril for Sean Dyche.

He is severely lacking depth, and in acquiring the 22-year-old would instantly gain pace, skills and substance in abundance, having scored 12 and assisted six in the Championship last season.
Everton need a player exactly like this, whereas they did not need Greaves. Let’s hope that this means they have given their all to succeed in this venture.
