Everton are still trying to sign 21-year-old PSG forward Hugo Ekitike this summer.

Indeed, the Toffees are said to be ‘pushing hard’ to secure the signature of the ‘special’ striker as Sean Dyche looks to reinforce his attacking options.

That is according to journalist Rudy Galetti, who reported via his Twitter account that Ekitike remained high on the Goodison Park agenda, though the forward is yet to decide on his future.

Galetti tweeted: “Everton are pushing hard for #Ekitike: talks with #PSG are progressing at a good pace.

Understand the club (Everton) is speeding things up to anticipate the competition of Eintracht and other (European) teams interested in the ST.

Hugo hasn’t made a decision on his future yet.”

Hugo Ekitike signing would be huge statement of intent from Everton

The 21-year-old forward would be an outstanding signing for Everton if Sean Dyche can lure the PSG star to Goodison Park.

Indeed, it is no secret that the Toffees have been in the market for a forward this summer, with recruitment essential to avoiding another disastrous campaign.

The signing of such a prodigious and highly-rated young talent would be an enormous boost for the club, and with the Premier League season set to begin this weekend, it is reassuring to see Everton ‘speeding things up’.

Everton sold academy graduate Ellis Simms in a £3.5m deal with Coventry City earlier this summer and the futures of both Neal Maupay and Demarai Gray remain unresolved.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s injury crisis remains ongoing, so the addition of at least one more centre-forward this summer is a must for Sean Dyche.

The Toffees have brought Arnaut Danjuma in on loan from Villarreal, and the addition of Hugo Ekitike alongside the Dutch attacker could provide Everton with some much-needed firepower.

If the Blues can get this one over the line, it could be a superb signing for the club.
