Everton boss Sean Dyche has been talking to the media after his side’s 1-0 win over Burnley at Goodison Park.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s somewhat fortuitous first-half goal was enough for the Toffees to end their winless run and secure their first victory of 2024.

Everton still sit four points above the relegation zone after Luton Town’s late comeback victory over Bournemouth at Kenilworth Road.

Nonetheless, the result was all that mattered to the 52-year-old after the game.

The visitors saw Dara O’Shea sent off in the 67th minute and Dyche believes the Clarets should have had at least two players dismissed.

“We worked the opposition, put it on the backline as many times as possible,” he told BBC Sport.

“They have a lad sent off; they should have had another lad sent off; we can’t get them decisions at the minute. We should have had a penalty on Jimmy Garner that was identical to Dom’s last week.”

What has Vincent Kompany said about Everton’s 1-0 win over Burnley?

Burnley boss Vincent Kompany cut a very dejected figure at the full-time whistle, and it’s fair to say his view on the red card was at the opposite end of the spectrum.

He told Sky Sports: “I’ve entered this debate too many times this season. It was the letter of the law; he needs to be denying a goalscoring opportunity.

“To have a goalscoring opportunity, you need a little bit of control of the ball. I’ll let you guys watch the images and make your own minds up.”

Up next for Everton is a testing trip to Chelsea on April 15, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side improving late. Nevertheless, Two or three more victories should be enough to secure their Premier League status for next season.
