Kevin Thelwell has been exceptionally open of late, after years of Everton fans calling for the club to improve their communication.
For so long supporters were forced to endure huge periods of radio silence from those upstairs, which just so happened to coincide with the steady decline of the Toffees too.
Farhad Moshiri did himself no favours, and allowed the situation to worsen to a stage beyond repair before he began penning open letters to Evertonians.
Now seeking to sell up, few will be sad to see the Iranian depart after what has been a torrid seven-year tenure.

However, the state he seeks to leave the club in is actually one of the strongest it has been in recent years, with Sean Dyche the pillar with which this newfound foundation has been built.
Thelwell is owed the praise for making such an appointment, and yet admits his work is far from finished.
What did Kevin Thelwell say?
Speaking on Everton’s official platform, he recently outlined his next objectives in his role as Director of Football: ‘In my 18 months, we’ve gone through a very difficult period and supporting the manager to help us stay in the league has been a big part of my role.
‘But I don’t think it’s any secret that we have some financial issues that we need to resolve – and we are resolving. Certainly in my 18 months here, I’ve been focused on that – as well as other things – but, importantly, understanding our PSR (profit and sustainability) issues and finding some solutions to those has been a part of the process.
‘Making sure we stay on the right side of the rules in that regard. We have spent plenty of money in previous times and the reality is you can’t continue to spend and not deliver transfer fees or build a better transfer structure.
‘My role is to bring us back into financial balance and put in place a financially sustainable plan moving forward, while also building a team that is competitive – and something that people can believe in – in the most competitive league in the world – they’re the two big rocks within my remit.’
How has Kevin Thelwell operated in the transfer market at Everton?
Since joining the club in February 2022, the former Wolverhampton Wanderers Sporting Director has been thrust into one of the most challenging periods in Everton’s illustrious history.
Tasked with ensuring long-term growth both on and off the pitch whilst in the midst of a relegation battle, his work in solving their numerous ever-growing issues has been admirable.
After all, his shrewd operations in the transfer market have helped the club progress their playing staff without further plunging them into financial ruin that could still see them deducted points.
Having overseen the sale of Anthony Gordon, and negotiated a £60m fee for Richarlison’s exit the following summer, Thelwell then went about bolstering Frank Lampard’s squad with key additions.

The likes of Dwight McNeil, James Garner and James Tarkowski have already grown into integral members of the team despite being brought in for a cut price, whilst Amadou Onana is already set to fetch a fee way higher than the £33m initially paid.
He would once again thrive in the summer just gone, as Jack Harrison and Arnaut Danjuma bolstered the side for little cost on loan.
Should Everton keep up this steady incline, whilst Thelwell continues to pump out such smart business, a bright future could be in line once again for this historic club.
