Everton could be about to record a Premier League first

Everton have been in the Premier League ever since it began back in 1992.

The Toffees are just one of six clubs to have never dropped out of the Premier League – along with Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool and Chelsea – meaning Everton have a large involvement when it comes to records in the division.

However, one thing no Premier League side has ever done is to concede stoppage time winners in three consecutive games – something Everton are in danger of doing against Manchester City on Monday.

Who would you rather see in Monday’s squad to face Man City? 🫣

Everton at risk of setting unwanted record

Having lost the last two Premier League games against Liverpool and West Ham due to goals in the dying stages of the match, the Toffees will become the first side in the division’s history to do it three times in a row should Manchester City win in that manner on Monday.

It would be a real blot on the copybook for Everton, and would also surely spark an inquest regarding concentration levels amongst the squad.

Another worry for David Moyes will be set-pieces.

Everton conceded a set-piece against both Liverpool and West Ham, so another concession in that manner against Manchester City would be quite concerning.

David Moyes could also get closer to an unwanted personal record

Moyes has never managed to defeat Pep Guardiola in the Premier League in 15 attempts, across spells at Sunderland, West Ham and Everton.

Coincidentally, the Glaswegian was actually the Spaniard’s first opponent in the Premier League back in 2016.

So far throughout Premier League history, only Sean Dyche (also against Guardiola) and Steve Bruce against Sir Alex Ferguson have endured worse personal records against one manager – both going 17 games without a win against either coach.

Do you share David Moyes’ concerns about Everton’s recent vulnerability defending set-pieces? 🤔

The Toffees have now conceded in back-to-back games to Virgil van Dijk and Tomas Soucek…

So, Moyes could get to within one game of matching this unwanted record if the Citizens pick up three points at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
